How To Tell Him Where To Get Off
 
Jesus told His disciples that He saw the devil fall like lightning from heaven. This adversary is still in the earth and at work in our midst. Jesus wanted the disciples to displace him from the lives of those they encountered along the way, prohibiting him from hurting people. Jesus went on to tell the disciples how much authority they were being given over all the work of the devil. As disciples today, we have the same authority, if we would but use it.
 
Later, on the other side of the cross, after Jesus had died, was buried, and had been resurrected, He was invited to sit in heavenly places beside His Father, and was given complete authority. As amazing as this was, the Father went even further, causing us to be identified with Jesus’ death, burial, and resurrection when we were born-again. He has given us the privilege to sit with Jesus in heavenly places, with authority to tell the devil what he can and cannot do. It was one thing to give authority over all demons to the twelve disciples, then later to the seventy, but now He has given all authority to all believers, everywhere, for all time.
 
This little brochure is loaded with big implications. It will help us see the authority we have been given, and how to use it. The first time I taught this, was to the dads in our church, who were unaware that they could stand up the devil when he was messing with their children, who were being tormented in their minds, in their sleep, and by other kids. Somebody needed to step up and tell the devil where to get off, so I taught them how to take responsibility and the authority Jesus gave to them.
